What's On
We love welcoming new people to our Sunday services, whether you are already following Jesus, simply want to find out more about him or just want to see what the church is like, the best way to get to know us is to come along to one of our Sunday services or join us at our Wednesday morning service of communion.
10.30am Morning service
Our main gathering on a Sunday. Our worship service is liturgical, which means we follow a set form and pattern in our service. This service is for all ages with Bible teaching, contemporary sung worship, prayer and fellowship. On the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month we celebrate Holy Communion together.
9.15am Holy Communion every Wednesday
A quiet, reflective service using the Book of Common Prayer.
Lunchbreak
A monthly soup lunch (second Tuesday of the month) at 1pm in the village hall. A great chance to meet new friends and reconnect with some old ones.
Houghton Church of England School
At St Catharine’s Church we have a very close and supportive relationship with Houghton Church of England School. We run a weekly after school club, deliver collective worship and love welcoming the school into the church for termly services. These well-established relationships allow us to develop our love and service, inspired by the words and acts of Jesus, extending beyond the school gates.
Youth and Children
Our children and young people are a key part of our church family. We want them to grow in their faith and live out their faith no matter how young they might be. We also want to share Jesus with other children and young people.
Kids Church
This is our group for primary aged children on a Sunday. The kids head out during the sermon to receive teaching on the same Bible passage so that families can talk together about what they have heard. The kids return after their group, and we hear what they have learned. Once a month our kids stay in the service, and they get involved in serving in various ways.
Excite
This is an after-school club at Houghton Primary School where children have an enormous amount of fun learning and exploring Jesus.
Youth Bible Study
A fortnightly group where our young people eat together and dig deeper into the Bible.
